An enhancer of recombination in polyomavirus DNA.
Previous work from this laboratory has indicated that intramolecular homologous recombination of polyomavirus (Py) DNA is dependent upon promoter structure or function. In this report, we demonstrate that Py DNA contains not two but three binding sites for transcription factor YY1, all located on the late side of viral origin of replication (ori) and the third well within the VP1 coding sequenc...
متن کاملGenome Sequences of a Rat Polyomavirus Related to Murine Polyomavirus, Rattus norvegicus Polyomavirus 1
We amplified and sequenced six complete genomes of a polyomavirus from feral Norway rats (Rattus norvegicus) and from a long-term breeding colony derived from Norway rats. This virus, which is closely related to hamster polyomavirus and murine polyomavirus, may contribute to understanding the evolutionary history of rodent polyomaviruses.
متن کاملReplication, Gene Expression and Particle Production by a Consensus Merkel Cell Polyomavirus (MCPyV) Genome
Merkel Cell Polyomavirus (MCPyV) genomes are clonally integrated in tumor tissues of approximately 85% of all Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) cases, a highly aggressive tumor of the skin which predominantly afflicts elderly and immunosuppressed patients. All integrated viral genomes recovered from MCC tissue or MCC cell lines harbor signature mutations in the early gene transcript encoding for the ...
متن کاملComplete Sequence of the Smallest Polyomavirus Genome, Giant Guitarfish (Rhynchobatus djiddensis) Polyomavirus 1
Polyomaviruses are known to infect mammals and birds. Deep sequencing and metagenomic analysis identified the first polyomavirus from a cartilaginous fish, the giant guitarfish (Rhynchobatus djiddensis). Giant guitarfish polyomavirus 1 (GfPyV1) has typical polyomavirus genome organization, but is the smallest polyomavirus genome (3.96 kb) described to date.
متن کاملInteraction of a nuclear factor with the polyomavirus enhancer region.
We have identified a factor present in nuclear extracts of undifferentiated F9 murine embryonal carcinoma cells that specifically interacts with the polyomavirus enhancer region. Nuclease "footprint" analysis was used to define the binding site that corresponds precisely to the boundaries of polyoma enhancer element C defined by Veldman et al. [Veldman, G. M., Lupton, S. & Kamen, R. (1985) Mol....
